Understood is operated by SBK Publishing LLC (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or continuing to use Understood, you agree to these terms. You confirm that you are of legal age and, if you use Understood for an organisation, that you may agree to these terms on its behalf.

Understood explains letters, bills, contracts and ballot questions in plain English. You need an account to run an explanation. You agree to use the service only for documents you have the right to share with us.

Understood is an information tool, not a lawyer, accountant, doctor or insurance agent. Explanations are generated by artificial intelligence and can be incomplete or wrong. Always check important decisions with a qualified professional.

Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for activity on your account. Free accounts include three explanations each calendar month. Understood Pro includes unlimited explanations while your subscription is active.

Please do not use Understood to break the law, upload other people’s private information without permission, or attempt to overload, copy or reverse engineer the service.

Understood uses artificial intelligence to produce explanations. You are responsible for what you upload and for how you use the results, including checking them for accuracy before acting. Only upload documents you own or have permission to share, and never upload content that is unlawful, hateful, or designed to deceive.

You keep the rights to the documents you upload; we only use them to produce your explanation and to run the service. If you believe content on Understood infringes your rights, email us and we will review and, where appropriate, remove it. We may refuse, filter or remove content and suspend accounts that repeatedly break these rules.

We own Understood itself — our software, wording, designs and branding. You get a personal, non‑transferable right to use it on your plan. Please do not resell it, copy it, or work around its limits.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Payment, billing, tax, renewal, cancellation and refund mechanics are covered by Paddle’s Buyer Terms and by our Refund Policy. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.

We work hard to keep Understood available, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error‑free, and we disclaim implied warranties to the fullest extent the law allows. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury where the law does not permit it.

We may update these terms or the service. We may suspend or end access for a serious breach of these terms, non‑payment, or fraud and security risks. You can stop using Understood and delete your saved documents at any time.
